What to Expect

Discovering the historical and natural wonders of Thailand with this six-day and five-night tour from Bangkok, the capital city of Thaiand in the centre to Chiang Mai, the capital city of Lanna Kingdaom in the north. Visit the world’s heritage sites by the UNESCO such as the Ayutthaya and Phitsanulok, meet the real king of the jungle at an elephant camp in Chiang Mai and explore the infamous Golden Triangle, one of the world’s leading opium-producing areas.

    Itinerary

    Day 1Bangkok - Ayutthaya - Phitsanuloke (Meal: L)

    Pick up from hotel in Bangkok and depart for PhitSanuloke,
    A stop en-route at Ayutthaya, one of the UNESCO World Heritage sites, the former capital of Thailand from 1350 which was invaded and destroyed by the Burmese in 1776.
    Many ruins of temples indicated how important the city was in the past.
    You will visit famous ruins like Wat Chaiwattaram, Wat Mongkol Bophit with a massive Buddha image, Wat Sri Sanpetch, the royal temple in an ancient palace. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant. Continue driving to Phitsanuloke with a visit to Wat Mahathat from the 13th century and its impressive Buddha Jinaraj. said to be one of the most beautiful Buddha statues in Thailand.

    Day 2Phitsanuloke - Sukothai - Lampang (Meal:B/L)

    After breakfast, we will drive on to Sukhothai which city was the first capital of the Kingdom of Siam and is considered to be the cradle of Thai culture.

    Visit the famous historical park of Sukhothai. You will be amazed by the many ruins from the 13th century. Wat Mahathat is considered the magical and spiritual center of the Kingdom and at Wat Sri Chum you will see one of the largest sitting Buddha statues of the country.
    Lunch will be served at a local restaurant en-route to Lampang.

    In Lampang, you visit Wat Phra That Lumpang Luang, a paradigm of the temple building of Lanna. The temple is prominently sited on a hillock surrounded by a wall and has a large collection of ancient wooden utensils. Check-in at your hotel in Lampang.

    Day 3Lampang - Chiang Rai- Golden Triangle (Meal: B/L)

    Today you will continue in the northern direction to Chiang Rai. We will drive on a narrow hilly road with spectacular views, En-route, you will be stopped at a pineapple plantation and Kwan Prayao, which is the lake in Prayao Province, the word “Kwan” means the lake in the northern language.

    It is the largest lake of the province and the northern of Thailand, You will have a break for a nice photo, drinks, and snack before heading to Chiang rai Province,
    Visit WAT RONG KUNG – also known as the White Temple, one of the most popular sites in Chiang Rai Province.  This temple is a masterpiece of Thai architecture and a magnificent place of worship was founded in 2000 by the famous Thai artist, Mr.Chalermchai Kositpipat, and is composed of white

    concrete and several thousand small mirrors. Afterwards you will drive to the famous Golden Triangle the border area where Burma Laos and Myanmar are met

    You will visit a local Opium Museum to gain more knowledge about the former trade of opium in this region and then visit the meeting point of Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand. Currently, there is a massive Buddha statue which is a venerated object for the people in the Mekong region.

    Enjoy a boat trip on the Mekong River to see the area where the borders of Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand are met.  Check-in at your hotel at the golden triangle

    Day 4Chiang Rai-Golden Triangle-Chiang Mai (Meal: B/L)

    After breakfast, Drive to Chiang Mai along with a scenic route.

    We will pass the Ancient town of Chiang Saen, the historic town located by the bank of the Mekong River. A stop will be made at Nanglae Village where you can experience the daily life of the 5 hill tribes villager Akha, Yao, Lisu, Palong, and Longneck Karen hill tribes; The Karen, a tribal minority, historically lived in the hills on Myanmar side of the border. Some of their women wear heavy brass rings around their necks, forearms, and shins. Many ideas regarding why the coils are worn have been suggested. Some have hypothesized that the rings protected women from becoming slaves by making them less attractive to other tribes.

    Stop at Mae Khachan natural Hot Spring in Vieng Papao district for lunch and you can also enjoy your foot bath here.
    After that continue driving with a beautiful landscape along the scenic route to Chiang Mai.

    Day 5Chiang Mai (Meal: B/L)

    Breakfast at the hotel and then drive on to visit the Mae Sa Elephant Camp which is located outside of Chiang Mai where you will see how the Elephants are trained for their job in the jungle from a very young age on with their performances. Here, you also have a chance to take an optional riding on an elephant through the jungle (optional). Afterward, you will proceed to an orchid farm near Mae Rim district for your lunch. After Lunch, visit Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep, the sacred temple with challenging the flight of steps which are flanked by Naga, the mythical serpents. The sacred temple contains a holy relic of the Lord Buddha. A panoramic view of the city can be seen from here at 1500 feet above sea level. Visit San Kam Phang, villages and factories producing pottery, lacquerware, paper umbrellas, and silk. With so many crafts concentrated in one area, it is one of the best places to watch craftsmen at work.
    In the evening you can stroll on your own over the night market. Overnight in Chiang Mai.

    Day 6Chiang Mai- Departure (B)

    Breakfast at the hotel. Free at your leisure. You will be transferred to Chiang Mai Airport or train station for your onwards journey. (ticket for your onward journey not included in the package price).
